Their characterization is therefore of interest, though there are no official reference methods for their analysis in these matrices.Aim: To validate a gas chromatographic method with flame ionization detection for the determination of animal (cholesterol and desmosterol) and plant sterols (brassicasterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, β-sitosterol and sitostanol) found in IFs.All correlation coefficients obtained for the calibration curves of sterols studied were >0.99. The classical Jaffé reaction for the determination of creatinine in urine samples is tested. A comparative study of the main analytical characteristics focussed to minimize the bias error and improve the precision, for the batchwise and flow injection (FI) methods is realized. Also, the effect of the albumin concentration in the determination of creatinine has been studied. Different analytical signals were studied. The separation, characterization, and determination of mixtures of alkyl ether sulfates (AES) and fatty acids (C10-C16) in background electrolytes (BGEs) containing acetonitrile (ACN)-water mixtures is addressed. Due to inhibition of the ionization of the carboxylate groups, the migration time and the resolution between the fatty acids decreased when the water content of the BGE was reduced, but efficiency and resolution between the AES oligomers improved. An analytical imaging approach to the quantitation of dissolved chemical species absorbed in the visible spectral region is reported. The approach uses digital images of a series of standard solutions of the target substance and their processing with appropriate software to assign a numeric value to each standard in terms of color intensity. Such a value is directly proportional to the analyte concentration and allows the construction of a calibration graph. Abstract We propose a mathematical model from an analytical application viewpoint inspired in the limit dilution method. The theoretical development of the model and its results are given. The model shows that there is a linear relation between the inverse of fluorescence intensity and the inverse of the dilution factor; each analytic system (sample, diluent and analyte) is characterised by a general linear function which is easily obtained. Immuno-supported liquid membrane (immuno-SLM) extraction is a new technique that makes use of antibody (Ab)-antigen interactions as the "extraction force" to drive the mass transfer in a selective way. In immuno-SLM, anti-analyte (Ag) Abs are introduced into the acceptor phase of the SLM unit to trap the Ag that passes from the flowing donor through the SLM into the stagnant acceptor. Mark-Houwink Parameters of Biosynthetic Poly(γ-glutamic acid) in Aqueous Solution

A combined viscosity–light scattering–gel permeation chromatography (GPC) study was carried out on bacterially produced poly(γ-glutamic acid) (PGGA). PGGA samples with weight-average molecular weights ranging from 8×104 up to 8×105 g·mol–1 dissolved in phosphate buffer at 0.13 M ionic strength were used. It was found that the Mark–Houwink relation is acceptably obeyed, giving K and a values of 1.84×10–6 dL·g–1 and 1.16, respectively. As expected, GPC analysis showed that PGGA does not follow the universal calibration plot and that deviations can not be avoided by modifying the ionic strength.
